A Story I Will Never Know

Balloons

Every morning, I would park my car at the stoney carpark, and stroll down the many abondoned Melaka shophouses to my office. And without fail, I pass this Mystery.

Mystery always sleeps sideways with his knees to his chest on the dirtied tiled floor. His skin is sun scorched, and there are many tiny patches of red, pink and black on his arms. His hair remains unwashed and unbrushed, and his right feet settles in a pool of urine. He only wears a bright green shorts with red and yellow balloon designs all over.

I wonder why he was there. Who knows him. What was his past life. Where will he find food. The questions are endless, which only feeds the mystery.

He is sleeping and decaying alone. I wonder whether he is sleeping away his misery or whether he is indeed very much contented...

But I will never know.

Encountering such situation, I will always wonder where is the family? When he was borned, did not the family rejoice or otherwise -- what had happened since then..

Sometimes I do believe that they are content only because thier mental state allows them.

It also begs the question - Is it better to be homeless, 'crazy' but happy in that mental state or is it better to live in a bungalow, drive a BMW, have stress and be unhappy all your life?

But then again who are we to say that they're crazy? happy? ding dong?...

Or perhaps in their 'world'and through their eyes, we ARE THE CRAZY DING DONG ONES??

We never know....

Mystery man and alike always scare the shits out of me. however harmless they may be, i still try my best to steer away from their paths, thanx to one crazy dude who maki'ed me in front of CM, 7 years ago. All I did was look at him ok? And he cursed and swore like there was no tomorrow. Tau la giler.

Eii cuak.

So no, I have no interest in getting to know these people. They leave me alone, I leave them alone.

A very apt title for the entry. I always love your post's titles.

Anyway, ur entry reminded me of Mr. Grey Teddy of Jalan Tun Razak back in 2000. He was in the same grey clothes and i always saw him during his walks on the divider of Jln Tun Razak just in front of Istana Budaya and over Bulatan Pahang. He alwys carried a bag pack wit a small size teddy bear on the outside. But either he didnt stay there too long or the authority had him removed.

i always wonder a lot of him but i guess i will nvr know as well.

i've seen this dude who walks around talking and laughing to himself around my grandma's neighborhood in malacca, he's been around since my mom was little. he raises a smile and a lot of curiousity. i wish i was has carefree as he was.

these people always interest me - they can do something about their lives, but they don't... it must mean something.

salams...
when i was a student, i actually tried to approach this kind of people. one that i can recall was around the Klang bus stand. after observing for some time, i actually offered the guy (bottom-less!) a bottle of drink while he was diging the wastebin....he looked at me and geleng kapla (kapla atas bukan kapla bawah ok!)....
i told myself wahh!! got pride! so i left the bottle of drink in the bin, he can collect it later when nobody's watching.
i pity him and his kind but i still feel we can do better than just say our rasa kesian...maybe...
for now i just pray to Allah my beloved babies won't be like them....

Trust me. It is not as scary as one lady near Jalan Imbi who curses the sky in the morning with her tee lifted up exposing her tits.

I couldn't lift my eyelid to look at her, even with the exposed tits.

She might have been complaining about her tits. I do not understand a word she said.

Maybe you could ask him...?

kepala angin :

exactly. i wonder who are his or her family. whether anyone know or even cared that he is sleeping aimlessly by jalan raja abdullah...

sports freak :

that's the question. i don't know whether he is indeed crazy enough to not know misery, or in reality, he knows but don't know how to get out from it.

and dude, achieving wealth doesn't always mean you are unhappy. i believe its the total opposite. ;P

sooz :

hahahah yeah, its best to watch from afar because their actions are unpredictable. at that point, i assume that logic and decency has been thrown out of the window.

is that it, bro? i am really weak in my religion, so i wonder if it is true that the insane is promised a place in heaven...

and being a billionaire. hopefully i can be one myself as well. huhuhu...

shobshob :

i don't think i can talk to him. i only see him in the morning, and at that time, he is always sleeping...

frankenstenia :

the reason why people would think he is crazy is because he defies the norm. the norm to be clean. the norm to make a living. the norm to live at home. but most of all, the norm to think rationally. (but it is better to refer to a psychologist though...)

anyway, i am always a ding dong. perhaps i am cuckoo as well. ;P

babe :

that's what wonders me. whether they are really content or not...

capital b :

wow, in that case, i guess it is best that we always forgive ourselves and leave the past behind. if the past can bring one to be insane, i guess it is also best that we forget...

and hey, thanks for dropping by. :)

capital m :

Heya! ;)

hahahhahahah...i can only imagine. i guess the reason why i am ok with Mystery is because he is sleeping. If he was like your man at CM, perhaps i would have been freaked out as well...

inn :

heheheh...thanks. :) and yeah, after the description of mr grey teddy, i wonder why he carried a teddy bear around with him. why does that teddy mean so much to him? does it represent...per se...a lost child? the mystery deepens...

thinktankgal :

heheheh...yes, its better that way. :) and i noticed how girls tend to clutch their handbags to their chest when they pass mystery. do you do that as well? ;)

7:12 PM
Blogger Muddy said...

disco-very :

exactly. it must mean something. for example, as highlighted by capital b and inn's "mystery", they seem to be bogged down by something from the past. as in a certain action from the past drove them to be where they are.

torqxic :

walaikumsalam. :) thanks for dropping by man.

i noticed how some do have pride. i remember passing bukit bintang and there was one Mystery that did not want to take food from this Chinese lady, and actually spat at her. But the most heartbreaking thing was the Chinese lady calmly wiped her face, and placed the food by the sidewalk. When she left, Bukit Bintang Mystery took the food...

vlad :

that's the thing. i noticed how we all cannot look directly at Mysteries because of some fear that our glance will welcome some form of attack from them.

Even the bravest lower their eyes...

hahahah...i dont think i can ask him. he's always sleeping whenever i bump into him. i think he will strangle me if i wake him up. huhuhu...

waterfall :
